Jacob Eby Martin
1893 - 1973

Mennonite churchman and Linotype operator born in Franklin County, PA. He lived and worked in Franklin County, PA, Altoona, PA, Washington County, MD and Harrisonburg, VA.

From marriage to Rhoda May Eshleman of Washington County, MD came five sons - Jacob Eshleman, J. Mark, Paul Henry, Joseph Benjamin and James Robert.

The Linotype career spanned five decades with two employers, Public Opinion of Chambersburg, PA and The News Leader of Staunton, VA.

Jacob's lifetime of service in the Mennonite Church included  years as
preaching deacon at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church near Fort Seybert, WV.

This website springs from his passion for family history as passed on to sons and grandchildren. Jacob is in the fifth generation descended from immigrant David Martin (1691 - 1784), of Swiss-German origins.
